From“Miscellaneity”to“Purity”:A Comparison of Two Versions of the Film Home

1941年中国联合影业公司为纪念新华制片厂成立8周年,推出了第一个电影版本的《家》,这是在当时进步电影文化工作受到极大摧残的环境下,出现的为数不多的优秀影片之一。1956年版的《家》由上海电影制片厂制作,也受到了颇多关注。两部电影虽都以巴金的《家》为底本,但制作背景、目的多有不同,一部是电影厂的周年纪念,一部是为新中国献礼。因此一部明星云集,多有炫技;一部围绕政治目的,充满阶级对立。

In 1941,in order to commemorate the 8th anniversary of the establishment of Xinhua studio,China United Picture Corporation launched the first version of the film Home,which was one of the few excellent films produced in a context where the progressive film culture was greatly damaged at that time.The 1956 version of the film Home,produced by Shanghai Film Studio,also attracted a lot of attention.Although both films are based on BA Jin's fiction Home,they have different production backgrounds and purposes.The former is to celebrate the anniversary of the film corporation while the latter is dedicated to the founding of PRC.Therefore,many stars clustered together in the former film who showed off their shining performance skills,while the latter film centered on political purposes that fully displayed the class antagonism.
