韩雪教授认为治疗小儿慢性咳嗽应先辨识小儿体质,再辨别寒热、虚实、脏腑、阴阳。指出本病属于本虚标实、寒热错杂证,本虚为肺脾肾三脏虚损,标实为邪实(风邪、痰邪、火邪、热邪、燥邪),病因病机是机体在脏腑虚损的基础上内生痰邪,复遇外邪(尤其是风邪),外邪引动内伏之邪(痰邪、风邪),致使肺失宣肃。治疗以活血化瘀、益气养血为主,同时配合温化寒痰、清化热痰、润燥止咳、燥湿化痰、培土生金、疏肝理肺、滋阴养肺、利咽止咳、温肾通阳、消积止咳等10种治疗方法,使脏腑各司其职,则咳嗽自愈。

Professor HAN Xue holds that we should first differentiate the constitution of children,then differentiate cold from heat,deficiency from excess,zang from fu organ,and yin from yang,when treating children with chronic cough.It is pointed out that the disease belongs to the syndrome of deficiency in the root and excess in the branch as well as simultaneous occurrence of cold and heat.Deficiency in the root lies in the consumption of lung,spleen and kidney,while excess in the branch consists in excess of pathogenic factors(pathogenic wind,pathogenic phlegm,pathogenic fire,pathogenic heat and pathogenic dryness),its etiology and pathogenesis are on the basis of consumption of zang and fu organs,the internal producing pathogenic phlegm,repeated encounter with exogenous pathogenic factors(pathogenic wind in particular),external pathogenic factors evoke and stir latent pathogenic factors inside(pathogenic phlegm and pathogenic wind),all of which causes failure of lung to disperse and depurate.The treatment focuses on activating blood to resolve stagnation and replenishing qi and blood,meanwhile,cooperated with the ten therapeutic methods,namely warming and resolving cold-phlegm,clearing and resolving heat-phlegm,moistening dryness and stopping cough,drying dampness and resolving phlegm,banking up earth to generate metal,soothing liver to regulate lung,nourishing yin to supplement lung,relieving sore-throat to stop cough,warming kidney to activate yang and removing qi stagnation to stop cough,etc.,whereby zang and fu organs each performs its own functions and the cough heals itself.
