ZHANG Zhiyuan’s Experience in Using Gegen(Radix Puerariae Lobatae)

总结张志远教授临证运用葛根的经验。葛根归阳明,擅解肌以给邪出路;属风药,性上行而升阳通络,此为其起效机制;并化裁经方推陈出新,对葛根汤、葛根黄芩黄连汤进行加减运用,强调配伍不同,用量殊异,则主治有别。葛根解肌须大剂投用,升阳取少量有功,对于颈椎病、痢疾、高血压病亦有较好疗效。

This paper summarized ZHANG Zhiyuan's clinical experience in using Gegen(Radix Puerariae Lobatae).In ZHANG’s opinion,Gegen plays its effect by permitting the exit of the pathogens as it enters the yangming(阳明)channel and releases the flesh,and raising Yang and unblocking the collaterals as it is a wind-related herb and has the function of moving upward.He is also good at modifying the classical formulas such as Gegen Decoction(葛根汤)and Gegen Huangqin Huanglian Decoction(葛根黄芩黄连汤)into new ones,and emphasizes that different compatibility and dosages of medicinals result in different indications.High dose of Gegen is needed in releasing the flesh,while small dose is used in raising Yang.Gegen also has good effects on spondylosis,dysentery,and hypertension.
