摘要
詹姆斯·乔伊斯的短篇小说集《都柏林人》描述了在爱尔兰瘫痪麻痹的社会之下女性的悲惨命运。《伊芙琳》《母亲》《泥土》分别描述了未婚的青年女性伊芙琳、结婚已有子女的中年女性卡尼太太以及一直未婚的老年女性玛利亚在不同的人生阶段所遭遇的各种生活困境,她们都试图摆脱不幸生活的束缚,但是都以失败而告终。乔伊斯展示了在男权话语以及宗教话语占主导地位的爱尔兰社会,都柏林女性一生都无法摆脱社会的钳制,丧失了属于自己的话语权从而变成了男权社会的附属者。
Dubliners,a collection of short stories by James Joyce,depicts the tragic fate of women in Ireland's paralyzed society."Eveline","Clay","A Mother"describe respectively an unmarried young female Eveline,a married middle-aged female Mrs.Kearney who already had children,an unmarried elderly female Maria who has never married,and the various life dilemmas they encounters in their different life stages.They all tried to break free from their unfortunate lives,but failed.Joyce showed that in the Irish society dominated by patriarchal discourse and religious discourse,women in Dublin could not get rid of the social restraint all their lives and lost their right to speak,thus becoming subordinates of the patriarchal society.
