Poverty is an important aspect of Hegel’s civil society theory,because it involves not only the freedom and welfare of civil society members as atomic individuals,but also the general welfare and ethical spirit in civil society.Through the analysis of the causes of poverty,the symptoms of poverty and the solution of poverty problems,Hegel showed his deep insight into the symptom of civil society--the fundamental contradiction of civil society lies in the conflict between the needs it causes and its inability to meet these needs;and his attempts to construct the ethical spirit of civil society so that the internal unity of individual special welfare and social universal welfare would be realized.
