Formation and Influence of Eighteen Villages Association Around the White Rock Temple in Dai County During the Qing Dynasty

清朝代州白人岩周边十八村民众以其为共同的信仰载体,形成了地缘性的跨村落组织。作为白人岩寺的管理者,创建和修缮寺庙、管理和维护庙产是十八村联合体重要的职责和信仰实践。这一跨村落联合组织对民众村落生活有着较为重要的影响,一方面加强了村落间的交往,形成了稳固的村落关系网;另一方面增强了民众间的凝聚力,将不同的村落在世俗与神圣权力的多元结合下重新统合了起来,维持了村落群体的秩序。

In the Qing Dynasty,the people of the eighteen villages around the white rock in Dai County took it as a common carrier of belief and formed a cross-village organization.As the administrator of the White Rock Temple,it is the important duty and belief practice of the Shiba Village Association to establish and repair the temple,manage and maintain the temple property.This inter-village association has a relatively important impact on the lives of the people in the villages,on the one hand strengthening the contacts between the villages and forming a solid network of village relations,on the other hand strengthening the cohesion among the people,different villages in the secular and sacred power under the pluralistic combination of re-integration,maintain the order of the village community.
