有明一代,出现大批《史记》评点著作,唐顺之的《荆川先生精选批点史记》就是其中产生时间较早的一种。该书在明清两代的书目中鲜有著录,且至今未被学界予以充分重视。然而,此书不仅是一部以文学性为选文标准的《史记》选本,而且还是一部从文学角度批点《史记》的评点本;由于产生时间较早,该书的批点为当时及后世多种《史记》评点著作所承袭、引用,沾溉后世,影响颇著。

In the Ming Dynasty, there appeared a large number of commentaries on Historical Records, of which The Historical Records of Mr. Jingchuan’s Selected Comments by Tang Shunzhi was one of the earlier ones. The book was rarely recorded in the bibliographies of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and has not been fully paid attention to by the academic circle.However, this book is not only a selection of Historical Records based on literature, but also a criticism from the literary point of view. Due to its early generation, the criticism points of the book were inherited and quoted by a variety of commentaries of Historical Records at that time and later generations, which had a great influence on the later generations.
