The Critical Discourse Analysis of Sultan Qaboos’s Three Public Speeches in the First Year of His Term

批评话语分析是语言学分析中迅速发展的视角,通过分析话语表层的语言表现形式,结合语言生成的社会历史背景,探讨隐蔽于语言结构背后的意识形态意义。本文试图从批评话语分析的中心和基础——文本层面出发,通过分析当代阿曼奠基人卡布斯苏丹上任初年所作公共演讲的词汇、语法及语篇表达策略,探讨权力、话语与社会和意识形态之间的相互关系,展现卡布斯苏丹作为语篇生产者如何通过语言的选择来传播他的意志和观点,以实现其政治目的。

Critical Discourse Analysis(CDA)is a rapidly developing perspective in linguistic analysis which explores the ideological significance behind the structure of language by analyzing the language expressions of the surface of discourse,combined with the social and historical background of language generation.This article attempts to discuss the relationship between power,discourse,society and ideology from the angle of text,the center and foundation of CDA,by means of analyzing the vocabulary,grammar and discourse expression strategies in public speeches delivered by Sultan Qaboos,the founder of contemporary Oman at the beginning of his term,to show how Sultan Qaboos spreads will and viewpoints through the choice of language as a text producer in order to achieve his political goal.
