Yuyue Fuchi(Fish Jumping out of the Pond):Research on the Zhou Dynasty Fish-Shaped Decorative Coffin Appendages

本文对西周早期至春秋中期出土饰棺鱼形饰的墓葬进行了全面梳理,总结了饰棺鱼形饰在形制与地域等方面的特点,并讨论了饰棺串饰在墓中的分布方式与墓葬年代和墓主等级的关系。同时,将包括鱼形饰在内的饰棺串饰的发展分为西周早期偏早至晚期偏早、西周晚期偏晚至春秋中期、春秋中期之后等三个阶段。

This article conducts a comprehensive research on fish-shaped decorative appendages of coffin and guo chamber dating from the Early Western Zhou to the Middle Spring-and-Autumn period.The author summarizes the typological and regional characteristics of the fish-shaped appendages.In addition,the author explores the correlation between the distribution of coffin decorative strings,date of burials,and ranks of occupants.The author argues that the development of the fish-shaped appendages can be divided into three major phases.Phase 1 dates from the earlier stage of the Early Western Zhou period to the earlier stage of the Late Western Zhou period;Phase 2 dates from the later stage of the Late Western Zhou period to the Middle Spring-and-Autumn period;Phase 3 post-dates the Middle Spring-and-Autumn period.
