This paper presents the analysis of starch grain residue on the surface of sherds and stone tools from the Shalongka site in Qinghai. The result shows that identifiable species belong to Setaria italica,Triticeae,Quercus, and root tuber. The wide variety of plant remains suggests that ancient residents at the site might have relied on various food resources. The discovery of Quercus and root tuber provides additional evidence that was not recovered by macro-botanic remains, and new evidence for the study of plant food exploitation at the Shalongka site.In sum, this study provides important information for the prehistoric research on the subsistence in eastern Qinghai.
