我国西北地区大学英语教学的现状、问题及建议

The Current Situation, Problems and Suggestionsof College English Teaching in Northwest China

本研究依据《大学英语教学指南》(2020版),采用问卷调查方式考察了甘肃省、青海省、宁夏回族自治区和新疆维吾尔自治区四省区大学英语教学的现状。调查发现,该地区大学英语教学主要存在四个方面的问题,即部分院校对大学英语教学不够重视、大学英语教师学历和职称偏低、生源质量欠佳、课程结构与内容不够完善。针对这些问题,本研究提出几点改进建议,以期为深化我国西北地区大学英语教学改革提供参考。

This paper reports the findings of a questionnaire survey on college English teaching in universities in northwest China.In terms of Guidelines on College English Teaching(2020)and the results of the questionnaire,the paper summarizes four major problems in college English teaching in this region.Firstly,some universities attach little importance to college English teaching.Secondly,the number of teachers with a doctoral degree is very small and their career promotion is rather difficult.Thirdly,the English proficiency of newly enrolled students is comparatively low.Finally,most universities have not included courses on English for Specific Purposes and Cross-cultural Communication in the curriculum of college English.Correspondingly,some measures are proposed to deal with these problems and some suggestions are also provided for the future development of college English teaching in northwest China.
