古诗词意象翻译中的情感建构——以纳兰词中的“灯烛”为例

The Translation and Construction of the Affections Conveyed by Images in Ancient Chinese Ci-poetry:A Case Study of “Lamp” and “Light” of Nara Singde’s Ci-poetry

古诗词英译的一个重要困境就是原文意象所蕴含的情感在译本中的建构。目前学界对纳兰词英译的研究较少,仅涉及宏观的译介传播梳理及个别译本的对比分析,而对以"情真"著称的纳兰词中的典型意象"灯烛"关注较少。"灯烛"对纳兰性德来说,是诗词创作及情感表达的核心意象之一。本文旨在从遣词造句、创造修辞、文化词的处理三个维度探究不同译者在纳兰词英译中对"灯烛"意象情感内涵的感知及建构策略。从翻译美学的角度来看,译者作为翻译审美主体的语言综合能力、跨语际转换中译者的创造力以及译者对文化因素的感知能力极大地影响了译作的情感建构效果。译者在对纳兰词"灯烛"的意象进行情感建构时,词句运用的精准性、意象再现的艺术性、文化因素传译的普适性,具有一定的可借鉴意义,有益于古诗词意象翻译中情感的跨文化建构。

One of the crucial challenges in the translation of ancient poetry is the construction of the images’ affection in the target context. Most research on the translation of Nara’s ci-poetry only involves the general review about the translation and reception of Nara’s ci-poetry, as well as the comparative analysis of some ci-poems’ translations. The typical image of "lamp" or "candle"in Nara’s ci-poetry characterized by spontaneous affection has not got much attention. This paper aims to reveal the emotional connotations and esthetic traits of the images of "Lamp" and "Light"in Nara Singde’s ci-poetry from the dimensions of wording and phrasing, creating figures of speech and processing of the intertextual cultural words. This paper reveals that as the aesthetic subjects,the translators’ comprehensive competence, artistic creation as well as his/her cultural awareness have exerted crucial impacts on the construction of the images of "lamp" and "light" in the English Translation of Nara Singde’s ci-poetry. In the translation and construction of "Lamp" & "Light"in Nara Singde’s ci-poetry, the accuracy of the dictions, the artistic representation of the images as well as the universality of the cultural factors could offer some reference for the conveyance of affection by images in ancient Chinese ci-poetry.
