信息过载性抑郁受到信息的摄入量和频次、处理时间、个体特质、自身和社会因素的影响。根据能力受限理论,信息过载是信息过载性抑郁形成的源头,进而通过社会分类和社会比较形成信息过载性抑郁,压力和反刍思维在其中发挥着中介作用,并且信息处理过程中的偏差也是造成信息过载性抑郁的重要因素。信息过载性抑郁不仅影响个体的精神状态、决策行为和幸福感,也影响群体、组织和社会,特别是整体社会思维、认知结构和行为方式,不利于良好社会心态的构建。为降低信息过载性抑郁,培育积极社会心态,应适当减少社交平台的使用、积极提升个体对过量信息的应对能力,并重视心理健康工作者对其的筛查与防治。

Information overload occurs when individuals are overloaded with information and their brains are unable to balance it with their processing capacity.It has a significant impact on the mental health status of human beings,and a particularly noteworthy and understudied consequence is information overload depression.It is caused by information overload and leads to depression in individuals,which in turn affects the overall social mindset.Information overload depression is influenced by the amount and frequency of information intake,processing time,individual traits,self and social factors.According to the restricted ability theory model,information overload is the source of information overload depression,which in turn leads to information overload depression through social categorization and social comparison,in which stress and ruminative thinking play a mediating role,and bias in information processing is also an important factor in this depression.Information overload depression not only affects the individual’s mental state,decision-making behavior,and well-being,but also affects the group,organization,and society,especially the impact on other individuals and the change of thinking,cognitive structure,and behavior of the society as a whole.Therefore,in order to reduce information overload depression and cultivate a positive social mindset,we should appropriately reduce the use of social platforms,actively improve individuals’ability to cope with information overload,and pay attention to its screening and prevention by mental health workers.
