In primary school Chinese reading teaching, the whole book reading activity has an irreplaceable role. It can not only promote the formation of students’ reading ability and habits, but also help improve students’ literary literacy. The activity of "reading the whole book" proposed by Mr. Ye Shengtao has important significance and guidance for the development and training of pupils’ language thinking and expression skills. It is conducive to broadening students’ knowledge, creating a wider space for reading activities for students, and cultivating good students reading habit. This article mainly analyzes the significance and status quo of reading the whole book, and proposes relevant application strategies, hoping to be useful for reading teaching.
