The Study of Wuli(吴历)’s Rhyming System

吴历系明末清初时期的常熟诗人,今传诗歌约426首。经过系统、全面的考辨,可以发现,吴历诗歌的用韵中存在着不少依从平水韵的情况,同时,部分诗韵也反映出当时的实际语音,这些语音材料能够与宋代以来江浙一带的诗词用韵及现代吴方言相衔接。可见,吴历诗韵是值得吴方言研究者所关注的。

Wuli(吴历),a poet of Changshu,in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty,remains approximately 426 poems till now.Through further research,although the fact that Wuli abide by Pingshuiyun(平水韵)in many cases is discovered,some of the rhymes also reveal evidence about the evolution of the actual phonetic system,which can be connected to the rhyming systems of poetry in Jiangsu and Zhejiang after the Song dynasty as well as the modern phonetic system of Wu dialect.Therefore,paying attention to Wuli’s rhyming system may be helpful to the researchers of Wu dialect to an extent.
