Politics and Aesthetics of Voice--The Theory and Pratice of Modern Chinese Speakers

晚清以降,几乎所有重要的政治人物、政治思潮及政治运动,多少都牵涉作为一种技术及文化的“演说”。而铺天盖地的演说,不仅影响中国政治态势,同时影响文章体式。本文主要着眼演说的政治功能与美感实践,借助演说之氛围、演说之乡音、演说之变奏、演说之危险、演说之诗性五个不同层面,讨论若干兼擅演说理论与实践的政治人物及其演说名篇。而不论是学问家(文学家)对文化传播的关注,还是政治家(实践家)的注重社会动员,其共同之处在于,注重声音转化为文字,以及“以话为文”的得失成败。

Since late-Qing Dynasty,almost all important political figures,political thoughts,and political movements,have been involved in"speech"as a technique and a culture.The large amount of speeches influenced not only the situation of Chinese politics,but also the written style.This thesis mainly points to the political function and aesthetic practice of speeches,by dividing into five strata,i.e.,the atmosphere,dialect,variation,danger,and poetics,discusses some of the political figures who are good at the theory and practice of speech and their famous speeches.Whether the concerning of cultural communication by scholars(literati),or the emphasizing of social mobilization by politicians(practitioners),the common place lies at the attention paid to transform voice into written text,and the gains or failures of"taking speech as text".
