米欧敏教授的新作《椒房之后:历史与小说中的赵飞燕》是首部研究赵飞燕题材小说的学术专著。该书以《赵飞燕外传》为研究对象,通过文本细读,提出了"丝枕文学"的概念,并对赵飞燕在不同文本中的形象、《赵飞燕外传》文本的生成和演变过程进行了探究。作者着重强调了《赵飞燕外传》叙事结构中的女性视角,通过对"妒"这一关键词的考察,以及对《赵飞燕外传》在女性写作视野下的接受史梳理,进一步验证了通过性别研究的视角来透视赵飞燕故事的可能性。

Milburn’s new book The Empress in the Pepper Chamber: Zhao Feiyan in History and Fiction is the first academic monograph on Zhao Feiyan and her literary legacy. Taking The Scandalous Tale of Zhao Feiyan as the research object and through a close reading of the text, it puts forward the concept of “silk pillow literature”, and probes into the image of Zhao Feiyan in different texts, as well as the generation and evolution process of The Scandalous Tale of Zhao Feiyan. Milburn emphasizes the female perspective in the narrative structure of The Scandalous Tale of Zhao Feiyan. By analyzing the key word “jealousy” and combing the history in which The Scandalous Tale of Zhao Feiyan is accepted in female writing, she further verifies the possibility of studying Zhao Feiyan’s story from the perspective of gender studies.
