摘要
跨文化交际中的“第三空间”是指在跨文化交际实践中,交际者通过探索和协商,摸索性地创造出本族语言文化和外来语言文化之间的一个中间地带。“第三空间”中的文化既不是旅居者的文化,也不是东道国的文化,而是突破了非此即彼之二元对立的一种多文化杂糅共生后的创新性产品,其主要特点是矛盾性、混杂性、不确定性和动态性。在中国高等教育国际化不断发展的今天,为满足教师与教师间、教师与学生间、学生与学生间交流的需要,高校有必要也有可能为跨文化交际“第三空间”的构建作出积极的努力。
The Third Space refers to a cultural middle ground between sojourners and host nationals in intercultural communication practice,which is created by interactants by exploring and negotiating.The culture in the Third Space is neither exactly the sojourners’nor the nationals’,but a newly-crea-ted mixture of several different cultures,which is a breakthrough of the either-or binary opposition.The Third Space is characterized by its contradictoriness,cultural hybridity,uncertainty and dynamics.With the development of internationalization of Higher Education in China,it is a necessity and proba-bility for Chinese colleges and universities to make positive efforts in order to satisfy the needs for communication between teachers and students.
