白长川教授重视归经理论,提倡"引经方"的靶向定位概念,认为引经方包括脏腑经络引经方与部位引经方两层含义。临证时归经理论宜与定性(阴阳、寒热、虚实、气血)理论相结合,精准用方,取效益佳。白长川教授认为《伤寒论》与《金匮要略》将方证对应、方位对应、方性对应三者有机结合,形成并且奠定了归经与引经方理论。《伤寒论》中方剂或归于某经,或归于某位,经即六经、脏腑经络,位即表、里、半表半里,框架十分清晰;《金匮要略》分章节地将方剂或归于某脏腑经络,或归于胸、腹等某部位,方剂与脏腑经络、部位对应关系明确,示人以规范。

Professor BAI Changchuan attaches importance to the meridian theory and advocates the targeted positioning concept of "meridian-guiding prescription", and believes that the meridian-guiding prescription includes two meanings: Zang-Fu organs meridian-guiding prescription and local meridian-guiding prescription. It is advisable to combine the theory with the qualitative theory(Yin and Yang, cold and heat, deficiency and excess, Qi and blood) in the clinical treatment, so as to accurately use the prescription and obtain good benefits. Professor BAI Changchuan believes that the Treatise on Febrile Diseases and the Synopsis of the Golden Chamber organically combine the correspondence of prescriptions and syndromes, the correspondence of directions and prescriptions and the correspondence of natures and prescriptions, forming and laying the theory of channel tropism and meridians-guiding theories. The prescriptions in Treatise on Febrile Diseases either belongs to a certain meridian or to a certain position. The meridian is the six meridians, Zang-Fu organs meridians, and the position is the exterior, interior, half exterior and half interior. The framework is very clear. In the Synopsis of the Golden Chamber, the prescriptions are attributed to a certain Zang-Fu organs meridian or to a certain part of the chest and abdomen. The corresponding relationship between the prescriptions and the Zang-Fu organs, meridians and positions is clear and standardized.
