文学翻译中的形象变异与重塑--以《金陵十三钗》英译本为例

A Study on Image Variation and Representation in Literary Translation:A Case Study of The Flowers of War

文学作品中的形象在再现社会生活图景、反映社会风尚、表现各个阶层人们的生活和精神面貌等方面都发挥着十分重要的作用。读者可以通过这些形象领略一个国家的社会文化底蕴和风土人情。文章以《金陵十三钗》的英译本为研究对象,对比分析了小说中形象语言在原作与译作中的表现形式,发现译者在翻译过程中采用了“归化”为主的翻译策略,在译文中将多数原作形象进行改写或替换,这样的做法有利于译作在西方世界的接受与传播,但在一定程度上削弱了原作的文化内涵。通过研究,认为在文学作品外译的过程中,译者在确保准确传达原作语义的同时应高度重视原作形象文化异质性的呈现。

As an important carrier of culture,literary works reflect social life through vivid,concrete and touching images,so that readers can appreciate the local conditions and customs of a country by such images.The present paper makes a comparative analysis of the expressions of the same cultural image in the source and the target version of The Flowers of War.It is found that since the translator adopts the domestication translation strategy in translating,a majority of the original images are replaced or rewritten in the target text.Although this practice is conducive to the reception and publicity of the target text in the West,to a certain extent,it is not helpful as it weakens the cultural connotation of the original work.Through the study,the author holds that in the process of literary translation,the translator should attach great importance to the presentation of cultural heterogeneity of the original images while ensuring the accurate transmission of the original content.
