In 1942,a young man,Ian Allan,was working at Waterloo railway station in London.His job was to answer letters from people about trains.A lot of the questions he got were the same,and he started to get bored with writing the same answers.So,he asked his boss if he could write a small book giving the answers to the most popular questions.
