Objective To study the chemical constituents from the ethyl acetate fraction of the 70%ethanol extract from the leaves of Ormosia xylocarpa and their cytotoxic activities.Methods The compounds were separated by a variety of chromatographic methods and identified by spectroscopy techniques.The cytotoxic activities were tested by CCK-8 assay.Results Eight compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of the 70%ethanol extract from the leaves of O.xylocarpa,which were identified as 3¢,4²-dihydroxy-3,5,4¢,3²,5²-pentamethoxy-7,9¢;7¢,9-diepoxy-4,8²-oxy-8,8¢-sesquineo-lignan-propanol(1),genistein(2),quercetin(3),lupinone(4),β-anulanol(5),epitaraxerol(6),mundulin(7),and oleanolic acid(8).Compound 7 showed moderate inhibition on HepG2 cells,with a IC50 value of 86.34μmol/L.Conclusion All compounds are obtained from this plant for the first time,among them,compound 1 is a new lignan,namely xylocarpalignan;Compounds 5—8 are obtained from the Ormosia for the first time.Compound 7 shows moderate inhibition on HepG2 cells.
