Movie and Television Works Taking Southward Movements for Subject Matter:An Interpretation from the Perspective of the Integration of Northern and Southern Cultures

The Chinese revolution changed not only the fate of the Chinese history,but also the fate of many individuals in profound ways,which contributed to the great integration and development of Chinese culture.A case in particular is the phenomenon of soldiers going down south in China’s War of Liberation(1945-1949).In the new cultural environment,the thoughts and emotions of these soldiers changed greatly,hence manifests a historical trajectory of cultural confrontation and integration.The southward journey of the soldiers changed their life field.Meanwhile,at the macro level,their movements made possible the interaction between the cultures of the South and the North,although the process of integration was difficult.Examined from this perspective,the movie and television works taking southward movements for subject matter still have unlimited space for expression.Especially when we look at them from the focal point of the convergence of the Northern and Southern cultures,we will get a clearer understanding of the cultural significance of the Chinese revolution.
