桐城诗派传衍湖南考论

On the Spreading of the School of Tongcheng Poetry in Hunan

桐城诗派传衍湖南分为三个时期:一是道光中叶至咸丰初年。湖南士人在都下问法于梅曾亮,由此开始了接受和传衍。二是咸丰初年至同治末年。湘籍诗人回乡传法,在交游中推进了群体认同。与此同时,曾国藩接过桐城文柄,高位主持诗教。三是光绪初年至民国。湖南士人通过书院教育等方式推动薪火赓续。湖南桐城诗人极大地拓展了桐城堂庑,促进了桐城诗派中兴。传衍湖南是桐城诗派流衍全国的重要环节,也是湖南地方文学史上关键的历史进程。

The spread of the School of Tongcheng Poetry in Hunan can be divided into three periods. The first one was from the mid years during the reign of Emperor Daoguang to the early years during the reign of the Emperor Xianfeng. Scholars in Hunan began to accept and pass on the Poetry School from Mei Zengliang in Beijing. Second, from the beginning years during the reign of the Emperor Xianfeng to the final years during the reign of Tongzhi. Hunan poets returned to their hometown to spread the Tongcheng Poetry School, which promoted the group identity in making friends. At the same time, Zeng Guofan took over the literary handle of Tongcheng and presided over poetry teaching in high status.Third, from the early years during the reign of Guangxu to the Republic of China. Scholars in Hunan promoted the continuous development of Tongcheng Poetry School through academy education and other means. Tongcheng poets in Hunan greatly expanded the theoretical system of Tongcheng Poetry School and promoted its resurgence. It is not only an important link for Tongcheng Poetry School to spread throughout the country, but also a key historical process in the history of Hunan local literature.
