《淮南子》“齐俗”之义

The Meaning of“Unity Customs”on Huainanzi

《淮南子》的“齐俗”具有本然之义上的应然之旨。其本然之义为,“俗”本来是“齐”的,在人性及其道德自觉的状况中齐于“道”;即“齐俗”为“齐的俗”。其应然之旨是“使俗齐”,即移风易俗,改革不合于人性的陋俗、恶俗,使俗合于人性,这是《齐俗训》立论的真正意图。《淮南子》“齐俗”思想将《庄子》“齐物”思想的个人精神“逍遥游”之趣向转到了现实关怀方面,使“齐物”思想服务于现实需要,从而在理想与现实的交融中落实了人性,此乃“齐俗”思想的重大创建。

The“unity customs”on Huainanzi has its intention that comes from its original meaning.The original meaning is that the“customs”are originally similar,united in“Tao”in human nature and its Tao consciousness;namely,the“unity customs”is“similar customs”.The intention of“unity customs”is“to make customs united”,namely,to change customs,to reform vulgar or bad customs,which don't fit in with human nature,and to make customs fit in with human nature,which is Unity Customs'real intention.The thought of“unity customs”in Huainanzi turns the individual spirit of“unity things”in Zhuangzi to the aspect of realistic concern,which makes the thought of“unity customs”serve the needs of reality,and thus implements human nature in the blending of ideal and reality,which is the great creation of the thought of“carefree journey”.
