As a figurative expression of Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization,the theory“lucid waters and green mountains equaling mountains of gold and silver”has a profound phil⁃osophical implication.It is a creative representation of the best of the traditional Chinese philosophical culture,and an adherence to,and innovation of,the Marxist philosophy of nature.For it advocates for an organic integration of environment protection and sustainable economic growth,while highlighting the importance of ecological environment as a component of social productivity;it follows the inevitable logic of the evolution of human civilization,while presenting a genuine picture of China’s quality-oriented economic development in the new era;it echoes the aspiration of the Chinese peo⁃ple for a better life,while reflecting the pursuit of the Chinese-model modernization for a harmonious coexistence between man and nature.When China is embarking on its new journey towards its second centenary goal,we must stay firm in carrying out this new notion of development,and make it a key methodology in resolving environment problems,improving institutional set-ups of the ecological civili⁃zation,pushing for green transformation of China’s economy and building a beautiful China.
