Speeding up Transformation of China’s Ethnological Studies in the New Era

中央民族工作会议明确提出以实现中华民族伟大复兴为出发点和落脚点,以铸牢中华民族共同体意识为主线,不断推进中华民族共同体建设,构筑中华民族共有精神家园的目标要求。民族学研究要深刻把握新时代中国民族工作的主题主线,深刻领会中国民族学研究转型的历史逻辑和现实需求,加快推动新时代中国特色民族学研究转型,促进吸收借鉴与守正创新相结合,理论研究与应用研究相结合,单一民族研究与中华民族研究相结合,汉文文史资料与少数民族文史资料研究相结合,国内民族研究与海外民族研究相结合,为实现中华民族伟大复兴中国梦做出新的更大贡献。

The Conference of the CPC Central Committee on Ethnic Affairs made it clear that ethnic work in China should take as its point of departure as well destination the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by consolidating the sense of the Chinese nation as a community of all ethnic groups and pushing for the construction of such community as the spiritual home of the Chinese nation.In such context,ethnological studies in China should take into consideration this motif with a full understanding of the historical logic and realistic needs behind it in order to speed up the transformation of such studies in a way to integrate inheritance with innovation,theoretical research with applied studies,studies of single ethnic groups with studies of the Chinese nation as a whole,studies of the Chinese language literature with the literature written in the languages of minority groups,domestic research with overseas research,and make greater contributions to the realization of the Chinese dream.
