Trauma,Anxiety and Reflections:On Ng Kim Chew’s Dream Narrative in His Early Fiction

马华留台作家黄锦树的早期作品对华族社群的历史际遇具有高度指涉性。当时种族问题依然是政治禁忌,这使其“基础语义域”须立足于虚构世界,而历史反思和人文关怀作为题中之要义,又限定文本内容与现实世界密切相关。因此,黄锦树以梦境叙述作为其早期小说的重要叙事策略,将个人、家族以及族群记忆以变形的方式不断重述,让已经尘封却悬而未决的历史问题重新当代化。梦境叙事之于黄锦树,是一种在恶劣写作环境中的智性叙事方式,潜隐表达马华族群的历史缺席与生存困境;同时也是一种探寻自我深层心理的重要方式,以此来反思自我的写作困境与表现作为异乡人的身份焦虑。

The early works of Ng Kim Chew,a Chinese Malaysian writer based in Taiwan,are highly referential to the historical encounter of the Chinese community.Because racial issues were political taboo back then,that made it possible for the fundamental semantic domain to have to be based on a virtual world while historical reflections and humanistic concern,as the main meaning of the subject,restricts the close relationship of textual contents to the real world.For this reason,Ng Kim Chew uses dream narrative as an important narrative strategy of his early fiction,repeatedly re-narrating the individuals,the family,and memory of the ethnic group in distorted ways so that historical issues,buried in dust and suspended,can be re-contemporarized.For Chew,dream narrative is an intelligent way of narration in adverse writing circumstances,expressing the historical absence and the difficult living circumstances of Chinese Malaysian groups in a hidden manner while being an important way of exploring the psychology on a deeper level,to reflect on the difficult writing circumstances of the self and express the identity anxiety of the outsider.
