曾公亮传承发展与运用《孙子兵法》,与其自幼生长的地域环境以及良好的家学家风传统是分不开的,也离不开他所生活的北宋时代特定的政治军事文化环境。他所主撰的《武经总要》系统梳理总结了宋代以前的孙子兵学思想,在著述体例上以《孙子兵法》为核心展开,并开创“理论+战例”先河,在坚持传统兵学理论基础上创新理论与技术并重的军事学术传统,创新发展了孙子兵法的若干重要思想观点。他在军政活动中对孙子兵法做到了成功的实践运用。
