The CPC’s Centennial Discourse on the "Chinese Nation" and Its Discourse Development

关于"中华民族"相关议题的历史切入,不仅赋予了中国共产党领导的政治社会革命和国家建设以更为广袤的意义阐发空间,也让中国共产党在历史维度上取得了与中国宏观发展演化进程的深度联系。从长周期视角来看,中国共产党关于"中华民族"的百年论述及其创新发展,呈现出理论品质之"与时俱进"与内在逻辑之"一以贯之"的双重关系。具体来说,在新民主主义革命时期,中国共产党需要确立一个与中华现代国家相对应的、使中华各族人民团结一致抵御外侮的共同性身份,以服务于"救亡图存"这一更为重要急迫的宏观性目标;中华人民共和国成立以后,则需要消除各民族之间基于历史因素形成的隔阂,妥善处理好相关历史遗留问题,以实现祖国和平统一的历史重任;进入新时代以来,随着中华民族团结性因素的切实累积和"共同体"程度的不断加深,中国共产党又对将"中华民族"的"体认"与"自觉"推向了一个更为深刻的历史情境。

The historical penetration of the issues related to the "Chinese nation" not only has given the Communist Party of China(CPC) a broader interpretation of the significance of the political-social revolution and nation building led by the CPC, but also has allowed the CPC to gain a deep connection with the evolution of the macro development of China in the historical dimension. From a long-term perspective, the century-old discourse on the "Chinese nation" of CPC and its innovative development show a dual embrace of the theoretical quality of "advancing with the times" and the inherent logic of "consistency". Specifically, in the period of the new democratic revolution, the CPC needs to establish a common identity that corresponds to the modern Chinese country and enables the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to unite as one and resist foreign aggression, in order to serve the more important and more urgent macro goal of "save the nation from subjugation and ensure its survival". After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it is necessary to eliminate the estrangements formed in history between various ethnic groups and properly handle the related questions left over by history, so as to realize the historical mission of the peaceful reunification of the motherland;since entering the new era, with the accumulation of the united factors of the Chinese nation and the continuous deepening of the degree of solidarity of the "community", the CPC has pushed its "recognition" and "consciousness" of the "Chinese nation" into a more profound historical situation.
