《活着》英译本文化负载词翻译伦理研究

An Analysis of English Translation of Culture-loaded Words in YU Hua’s To Live

文化负载词是翻译文学作品的重点也是难点,其翻译质量会影响文学作品的对外传播。中国著名作家余华的代表作《活着》中含有大量文化负载词,其英译本To Live获得海外媒体的好评。由此可见,其文化负载词的英译也取得了成功。翻译研究已从传统的规定性翻译回归到伦理问题上,切斯特曼对翻译伦理进入深入全面地研究。因此,本文基于切斯特曼所提出的四种翻译伦理模式即再现伦理、服务伦理、交际伦理、规范伦理,分析研究白睿文在翻译《活着》中文化负载词的策略取舍,以期丰富《活着》英译本的研究,扩大翻译伦理的研究领域,为中国文学小说的文化负载词翻译提供借鉴。

Culture-loaded words are so important and difficult in translating literary works and their quality will affect the dissemination of literary works.To Live,the representative work of Chinese famous writer Yu Hua contains many culture-loaded words,and its English version To Live has been well received by overseas media.It can be seen that the translation of culture-loaded words has also achieved success.Ttranslation studies has returned from traditional prescriptive translation to ethical issues,and Chesterman has made a thorough and comprehensive study of translation ethics.So taking Chesterman’s translation ethics model as the theoretical framework,this paper analyzes the translation strategies of culture-loaded words in To Live by Bai Ruiwen from the four ethical models of reproduction ethics,service ethics,communication ethics and normative ethics in order to enrich the study of the English version of To Live,expanding the research field of translation ethics,and provide reference for the translation of culture-loaded words in Chinese literary novels.
