摘要
文学评论界历来将对美国著名黑人作家兰斯顿·休斯的研究聚焦于其恢宏的诗歌,鲜有人关注其于哈莱姆文艺复兴末期创作的小说《不无笑声》。在这部作品中,休斯着力刻画了黑人女性哈里特如何在饱受白人社会多重压迫的现实环境下奋力言说自我的经历。小说中的哈里特在女性身份、女性意识、女性经济地位等三个方面凸显出强烈的女性主体意识,于小说末尾名声大噪的她宣告着个人主体性建构得以实现。通过深入描写哈里特女性主体性的建构历程,休斯动情地述说着美国非裔女性个体的主体建构与成长救赎之道。
Literary critics have always focused on the magnificent poems of the famous black American writer Langston Hughes,but few scholars pay attention to his novel Not Without Laughter,which was written at the end of the Harlem Renaissance.In this masterpiece,Hughes focuses on portraying the life experience of Harriet,a black woman,struggling to make her voice heard in a cruel reality where multiple oppression by the dominating white people is prevalent.This paper discusses the process of Harriet′s self-construction of female subjectivity in three respects,i.e.,female identity,female consciousness,and the female′s economic status,thus revealing Hughes′deep contemplation on the self-construction of female subjectivity,growth and redemption of African American women.
