This paper briefly introduced the drafting background, technical contents and main features of the General Code for Timber Structure, a compulsory code for engineering construction.Based on the introduction of national standardization reformation background, it narrated the necessity of drafting national compulsory code for engineering construction, and explained the main contents,clause source and drafting basis of General Code for Timber Structure. It also analyzed the advantage and innovation of this Code through comparison among international and domestic standard system for engineering construction.
