Concern and Discussion on China-Japan Issue in Shenbao Monthly Journal

20世纪30年代前期,随着日本侵略步伐的加快,民族危机日益深重。《申报月刊》紧扣“抗日救亡”时代主题,刊载大量文章,深入探讨日本侵华问题及其解决之道。该刊认识到日本的“亡华之心”与日本侵华问题的“世界性”,并重点关注“东北问题”,明确提出武力抗日、“自救为主”、寻求外援的解决举措,侧面响应了中共爱国救亡的正确主张,对激发民众抗日意识和信心,推动国民政府抗战及实行“争取与国”的外交方针,对纠正盲目依赖国联、一味寻求列强援华制日或坐等列强与日开战、“口头抗日”而不实际抵抗等错误倾向具有积极作用。

In the early 1930s,with the acceleration of Japanese aggression,the national crisis became more and more serious.The journal called Shenbao Monthly closely followed the theme of“resisting Japan and saving the nation”,publishing a large number of articles to deeply explore the problem of Japanese aggression against China and its solutions.The journal has recognized Japan’s“desire to perish China”and the“internationalization”of Japan’s invasion of China,focusing on the“northeast issue”.This journal clearly put forward the measures of resisting Japan by force,“focusing on self-assistance”and seeking foreign assistance.This journal has responded to the CPC’s correct proposition of patriotic salvation and has stimulated the people’s awareness and confidence in resisting Japan.Meanwhile,it promoted the national government’s war of resistance against Japan and implemented the diplomatic policy of“striving for peace with countries”.The journal played a positive role in correcting the wrong tendencies of blindly relying on the League of Nations,seeking foreign powers to aid China to control Japan or waiting for the foreign powers to start wars with Japan,and“verbal resistance against Japan”without actual resistance.
