Belief in God of Fire and Drama Performance in Northwest Henan in Qing Dynasty

豫西北地区火神信仰盛行,供奉火神有祝融、燧人氏、炎帝、阏伯;祭祀时间有正月初八、正月十五十六、正月十九、正月二十九和六月二十三等;各县乡火神庙林立。从碑刻资料看,清代豫西北各县不断有创建或重修火神庙的记载,各县各村多建有火神会,组织献戏和相关祭祀活动。

The belief of God of Fire is popular in Northwest Henan.The commonly worshiped God of Fire are Zhurong,Suirenshi,Yandi and Ebo.The sacrificial time includes the eighth day of the first lunar month,the fifteenth and sixteenth day of the first lunar month,the nineteenth day of the first lunar month,the twenty ninth day of the first lunar month and the twenty third day of the sixth lunar month.There are many fire temples in every county.According to the inscriptions,in the Qing Dynasty,there were records of the creation or reconstruction of fire temples in the counties of Northwest Henan Province.There were many fire god associations in the counties and villages,which organized drama and related sacrificial activities.
