NanHuBieYe was a private landscape garden constructed elaborately by ZhangZi, which became an important location for social interaction and literary responsory among scholar-bureaucrats in the city Lin’an in Southern Song Dynasty. The dancing space in NanHuBieYe was quite complicated and delicate, which achieved the glorification that musicians and dancers, as well as their costumes in this park were extremely extraordinary and splendid. As a royal gift of ZhangJun whose great-grandson was ZhangZi, this residence formed because of the great fame and countless fortune from aristocratic family. As a matter of fact, the ultimate formation of this dancing space came from literary talent, life experience and devoted investment for entire garden of ZhangZi himself. Filling with enthusiasm for sociality, ZhangZi provided entertaining banquets for guests frequently, who were almost celebrated politicians and well-known litterateurs. On account of watching dance performance and discussing the skill of composing poems cheerfully, NanHuBieYe became an ideal place for social communication among those visitors. The “performance focusing on peony”, which was held in spacious hall decorated with ingenious curtains seemed fragrant fairyland. It was in common with the postures and clothes of flower dance in royal court. This dancing space was unique and unusual, for the reason that it was exceedingly exquisite and flourishing among numerous personal gardens owned by scholar-bureaucrats in Southern Song Dynasty.
