This paper discusses the thinking of material selection, innovative means of dance drama and adaptation of famous works of dance drama, and clarifies the ideas of material selection, structure, techniques and language in the creation of dance drama. The paper holds that the essence of the adaptation of literary classics in the creation of dance drama is to integrate the creator’s ideas into the theme of traditional dance drama. The creation of Chinese dance drama needs to use modern expressive techniques.
