Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal malignancies. At present, the etiology of pancreatic cancer is not completely clear, and it is a hot spot in the field of tumor research. A large number of recent studies have shown that the occurrence and development of pancreatic cancer may be intimately connected with the microbiomes of the digestive tract. Recent studies have found that certain oral, gastrointestinal and pancreatic bacteria, fungi and hepatocellular viruses may play potential etiological roles in the pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer. Concrete mechanisms include maintaining inflammation, regulating the immune system, affecting metabolism, and altering the tumor microenvironment. In this review, we explore the links between digestive tract microbiomes and pancreatic cancer, discuss potential diagnostic and therapeutic applications of microbiomes, and generate insight into the role of digestive tract microbiomes in pancreatic cancer.
