The development of definitive metalanguage research goes from general word lists to general academic word lists,and ends with specific academic word lists.This route of development represents the logical order of going from generality to specificity and developing from common knowledge to academic knowledge in specific disciplines.Linguistics,due to its own academic status and research specialties,should act as the fore-runner in initiating definitive metalanguage studies in specific academic disciplines.The practice of using linguistics as a case study is motivated by the possibility of discovering research methods in all disciplines,encouraging their domestication and boosting their development and higher education in related fields.
