彝族毕摩经籍绘画艺术是古彝文的雏形,是彝文书法的缘起,也是中华传统绘画艺术的重要组成部分。就其绘画颜料而言,反映和表现了彝族先民的五色文化内涵;就其绘画种类和内容而言,包括天地神灵、山川河流、飞禽走兽、花草树木、民居建筑、宗教祭祀、歌舞娱乐及君臣师民、英雄勇士、能工巧匠等,这些绘画作品具有个性与共性、现实性与广泛性、写实性与艺术性、承袭性与传承性等多种特点以及多学科文化价值。
