As an inseparable function of the public libraries,the social education service is of essential supplementary significance to the Chinese education system.On the elaboration of the public libraries’ meaning to social education,the paper finds the currently established public service system provides the guideline,as well as new requirements,for the social public culture in China.Under the circumstance,it is worthy of discussion about how the public library should offer social educational activities.
