The Renaissance and the opening of new shipping routes promoted the germination and growth of European capitalist factors. The Christian businessman Antonio and Jewish businessman Sherlock in Shakespeare’s classic The Merchant of Venice reflect the dialogue and conflict between the business ethics of two different belief systems. The Christian business ethics in the early days of the Reformation has shifted from the traditional“super dusty”concept of suppressing business to the business idea of glorifying God,simple life to make money and rejection of greedy dedication, legitimate business and usury standards, and the spirit of contract changes in the defense of the law and the law of compassionate love imply the renewal in development and the perseverance in the transformation. The play presents the appearance and behavior of the Christian businessmen of that era in the fierce dramatic conflict and strong image contrast.
