Transmission of Festive Folklore as Living Heritage in Shanxi

摘要 Chinese festive folklore is the traditions and customs practiced during the New Year and the Lantern Festival to pray for favorable climate,celebrate family reunion,and worship gods.From the eighth of the last month in the previous year to the fifteenth of the first month in the coming year,the Spring Festival,or the Chinese New Year,is celebrated in such diverse ways as cooking Laba rice porridge,worshipping the Kitchen God,Shousui(stay up late on the New Year Eve),paying a New Year call,worshipping the God of Wealth,and visiting the temple fair.
