Discussion on Application of Glycyrrhiza in Treatise on Febrile Diseases

《伤寒论》中甘草应用广泛,本文通过类比的方法分析仲景的加减用药,总结概括出甘草有补中益气、益气祛邪、益气复脉、益气除烦、缓药之烈、缓症之急、固护脾胃、合化阴阳、解药之毒,泻火解毒等功效,但在病势急迫、邪气壅滞时不宜使用。

Glycyrrhiza is widely used in Treatise on febrile diseases.This paper analyzes Zhongjing’s addition and subtraction of drugs by analogy,and summarizes that Glycyrrhiza has the effects of Tonifying the middle Qi,tonifying qi and expelling pathogenic factors,tonify-ing qi and restoring pulse,tonifying qi and removing trouble,relieving the intensity of medicine,relieving the urgency of disease,strength-ening the spleen and stomach,combining Yin and Yang,detoxifying antidote,purging fire and detoxifying.However,it should not be used when the disease is urgent and the evil Qi is stagnant.
