英汉植物名词动用认知对比研究

A Cognitive Contrastive Study of English and Chinese Plant Nouns Transforming into Verbs

名词动用是英汉语中一种十分普遍的现象。文章从认知语言学的视角出发,以概念隐喻与概念转喻理论为依据,对英汉语中常见植物名词活用作动词这一特殊现象进行对比分析,进而深刻发掘其背后隐藏的认知机制,加深人们对植物词的认识。研究发现,两种语言中植物名词动用的共性在于,二者均可基于行为动作和固有属性衍生出表动作的语义成分;其差异主要表现为,二者在使用频率、使用语体、固化方式等方面均有所不同。

The phenomenon of N-V shift is extremely widespread in both English and Chinese.From the perspective of cognitive linguistics,a contrastive study of English and Chinese nouns'conversion to verbs was conducted here on the basis of the conceptual metaphor and metonymy theories,thus extracting the underlying cognitive mechanisms and increasing people's knowledge about plants.It has been found that the similarity between these two languages lay in their production of dynamic semantic meanings based on activities and traits of plants.However,they differed from each other in terms of frequency,writing style and ways of lexicalization.
