数字普惠金融与城乡居民收入差距——基于中国省际面板数据的经验分析

Digital Financial Inclusion and Income Gap between Urban and Rural Residents:An Empirical Analysis Based on China’s Provincial-level Panel Data

数字技术的快速进步,为普惠金融深入农村提供了新思路。文章以2011-2018年中国31个省域的面板数据,使用固定效应模型研究数字普惠金融与城乡居民收入差距的关系。研究结论认为,数字普惠金融可以使城乡居民收入差距缩小;影响程度因地区而异,中西部高于东部地区;覆盖广度、使用深度和数字支持服务程度对城乡居民收入差距的影响也存在明显的区域异质性。研究具有重要的政策启示:金融机构应精准匹配金融产品与服务群体的需求;中西部地区应充分利用数字技术拓宽营销渠道;欠发达地区应着力提升数字普惠金覆盖广度和使用深度。

The rapid progress of digital technology has provided new ideas for inclusive finance to penetrate deep into rural areas.Based on panel data from 31 provincial-level regions in China from 2011 to 2018,this paper uses a fixed-effect model to study the relationship between the digital financial inclusion and the income gap between urban and rural residents.The study concludes that the digital financial inclusion can narrow the income gap between urban and rural residents;the degree of influence varies from region to region,with the central and western regions being higher than the eastern region;and there are also obvious regional heterogeneities in the impact of coverage,depth of use and degree of digital support services on the income gap between urban and rural residents.The study has important policy implications:financial institutions should accurately match the needs of financial products and service groups;the central and western regions should make full use of digital technology to broaden marketing channels;and less developed areas should focus on improving the breadth of digital inclusion coverage and depth of use.
