The emergence of railways was one of the important signs of change in the Victorian era.The construction of railways and the invention of trains have not only brought convenience to people’s travel and life,but also caused social problems. Victorian writers expressed their anxiety through writing. The frequent occurrence of railway accidents triggered writers’ sympathy for life. The environmental damage brought about by the railway construction caused their worry about the ecological environment. Railway crime and speculation increased moral crisis.
