Co-translating which exerts highly positive effects on cultural communication among countries and nations can date back to the very beginning of the translation history. From the perspective of the Sociology of Translation, the paper aims to chart the formation and evolution of co-translating modes during the Ming and Qing dynasties in light of the core concepts of Bourdieu’s Theory of Practice Sociology such as field, capital and habitus. In so doing,it is to disclose the struggle for power, the reproduction and redistribution of capital, and the construction and constructivism of co-translators’ habitus behind the historical changes in terms of the co-translators,the co-translated content and the language adopted in co-translating against the social field then in hopes of highlighting the great social significance of co-translation and broadening the theoretical horizons of the co-translation studies.
