杨宪益与戴乃迭英译《儒林外史》中的传统文化翻译分析

Translation Analysis on Traditional Culture in English Version The Scholars of Yang Xianyi and Dai Naidie

文学翻译是两种语言符号间的互相转换,是不同语言所蕴含文化之间的交流与融合。杨宪益与戴乃迭翻译的《儒林外史》并未采用固定不变的翻译模式,而是以归化或者异化的方式向目的语读者传递中国文化。译本中传统文化翻译具体体现为章回小说的形式文化翻译、文化负载词翻译、习惯用语翻译以及背景文化翻译。翻译过程中由于语言与文化差异形成文化缺损,包括文学与文字形式造成的绝对文化缺损和词汇与文化语境造成的相对文化缺损。

Literary translation is the mutual transformation of two linguistic sign and the exchange and integration of cultures contained in different languages.In The Scholars,Yang Xianyi and Dai Naidie does not adopt a fixed translation model,but transmits Chinese culture to the target language readers in the way of domestication or alienation.The translation of traditional culture is embodied in the form of chapter novels,culture loaded words,idioms and background culture.In the process of translation,cultural defects are formed due to language and cultural differences,including absolute cultural defects caused by literary and written forms and relative cultural defects caused by vocabulary and cultural context.
