In order to explore the differences between major and trace elements in coal samples and their controlling factors, the coal mines in the three basins of Sandi Prefecture, southern Xinjiang under the same structural background are taken as the research objects.Through analysis and testing methods such as reflected light microscope and scanning electron microscope with energy spectrum(SEM-EDS),the coals of Changsheng(CS)Coal Mine,Kezikueran(KZKEA)Coal Mine and Momutaileike(MMTLK)Coal Mine were compared and analyzed. The difference in the characteristics of the main elements and trace elements of the sample.Using trace elements, such as the ratio of V/(V+Ni),Sr/Cu and Sr/Ba,the three coal mines Redox characteristics, paleoclimate and paleo-salinity characteristics during deposition. The research results show that the sedimentary environment and tectonic movement when the peat swamp was formed are the main factors that cause the differences in the elements in the coals of the three basins under the same tectonic background.
